Let’s face it: Marrakesh can be pretty stressful. After a few hours of roaming the medina, trying to avoid scooters, donkeys and bikes, one can be pretty exhausted. Maison de la Photographie was a welcome escape. I found that just the three-floor funduq (an old place to stay for merchants) that the museum is located in was worth the visit. But what you should really come for is the gorgeous exhibition of 4500 vintage photos of Moroccan life, landscapes and architecture (from approximately 1870 – 1950) . Then, take in views of the Atlas mountains and the city from the peaceful roof terrace (I recommend combining this last step with some sweet mint tea and tiny pastries).
